Saturday night/Sunday morning was daylight savings time - Spring Forward! - which really just means "lose and hour off your weekend". Well, like most Saturdays, Leo was at Mi Casa. And, like many nights when he's at my house, I fell asleep on the couch. It's sort of a thing that we do - he curls up on one end, I'm at the other, and I doze off sometime around midnight or 1.
This weekend was a bit different, as I'd been out for a going-away party earlier. Now, it wasn't a crazy end-of-time sort of thing (I'm much too old for that... mostly), and I was being responsible. Of course, after 2 beers Leo was still not as happy to see me - he definitely has a bias against drinking. I really do think that he did not have the greatest home life before we got him, and those problems involved neglect, lack of attention, domestic disputes and alcohol. Even an animated conversation gets him agitated, and being a little boozy means he wants nothing to do with you.
Anyway, we did our usual thing, the short bit of shut-eye on the couch. When I woke up at 1:30, I gathered myself, got things together and got ready to take him around the block for the night-time courtesy walk. He didn't want to go at all.
Now, this isn't a new thing - while Luna is always up and at 'em when it's that time, Leo need convincing. So, a few treats later and off we go down the hall, down the stairs and outside. It was colder than I thought, so I was a little underdressed. No big deal, we're just going around the block, right?
Wrong.
Leo took me for a bit of a walk. Nothing major, just a 35/40 minute jaunt around the neighborhood. Thankfully, after the first 10 our pace was enough that I warmed up (from shivering and miserable to tired but warm enough). Anyway, we came back in after our little saunter, and I got ready for bed. Suddenly I looked a the clock - 3:15!?!?! We'd been out for a while but... right. The clock automagically reset at 2. So, the spring forward hour was spent on a walk, magically turning our 40 minute walk into an hour and 40 minute walk.
