A New Year With Leo

We made it!
Me and Leo at Bushwick Pet Superette

I cannot tell you how happy it makes me to say that, but we made it to 2013 with my boy.  It hasn't been easy, and it is still scary to think about, but for right now, I'm just enjoying having Leo - well, all of them - around.  Happy New Year to Leo, Luna, and Orlando! (Oh, and Byron, and Egon and Percy and Wobble and Bobble, who all live downstairs at the pet store.)

Luna, still acting like a puppy at 13
Orlando, the latest addition
His last bloodwork was great.  We were told he has the numbers of a puppy!  That's the good news.  We've been spending a lot of time on our walks, despite the cold - he's got plenty of energy for both of us (especially now that I have a cold).  Of course, there's always a "however" when you have older pets.  Luna, the 13 year old crazy one, had a bit of a health scare, which is odd for her.  She's been very healthy, almost scarily so, aside from being a little bit crazy.  At the latest blood test, they found elevated creatinine (sp?), which is an indicator of reduced kidney function, but not enough to get really concerned - and she's been a little "off" lately.  She IS 13, but you don't like seeing the signs of decline.  We'll be taking her in this week to see if we can't get a better handle on what's going on, or if she's just finally showing her age.
There's also a new addition to the clan - Orlando!  She was supposed to be a foster, and very temporary, only living here while there wasn't space at her rescue.  She had been in the bathroom at PS9 (she didn't like dogs all that much), and due to a re-arrangement of animals, she was going to be homeless.  So I took her in because I'm a sucker.
