Scare

We had a bit of a scare just recently.  There was a period of good health and generally good times, including a trip to a cook-out (courtesy of the Smiths) and some more hiking and camping, but then Leo stopped eating.
For Leo, this is a huge sign - Leo LOVES eating, and if he's not, something is most definitely up. I noticed that he wasn't eating all that much on Saturday and Sunday - at least, not as much and without his usual gusto.  We kept an eye on things, and after a week of this, we decided that something was most definitely amiss.
So in we went to VERG, and his physical exam was fine.  His neck was a little, well, thick, for lack of a better word, but that's been the M.O. for over a year.  His lymph nodes were fine, but despite that we were concerned that there was a lurking problem.  So, the next thing was an ultrasound. Mr. Leo showed back up to use reeking of alcohol (the rubbing kind) and with a shaved belly! (Pics coming).
The good news - they didn't find anything on the ultrasound! His kidneys, liver, GI tract, and all that business were clear!  The bad news (the next day) - Leo's BUN level was elevated, but his creatinine level was ok.  This (apparently) is the sign of a bleeding ulcer - hence, the disinterest in food.  So, that little problem was solved with some Pepcid and low-acid stuff.  Granted, he's been getting super spoiled with food lately (LOTS of steak) to keep him interested in food (which really isn't a problem) but we need to put a few more pounds back on him - he lost almost 4!
