So, Leo went in to chemo with a fairly high "tumor load", as the terminology goes. His lymph nodes were big - many centimeters by many centimeters, and they showed up on ultrasound and x-ray. He was a little bloated, and definitely not feeling well. Chemo treatment 1 was supposed to work fast, reduce the tumor load, and reduce the swelling. It did, and then some.
By Sunday morning, his neck had gone down to almost normal. His popliteal nodes (on the legs) were getting smaller. I thought i was imagining things, wishful thinking, seeing what I wanted to see. L confirmed what I saw - Leo's lumps were gone!
This did not come without a price, however. Aside from the vet bills, Leo was (according to reports, since he's with L) about 60% Leo. Short walks, some GI upset, maybe even some nausea. But by Thursday he was bouncing back, and now he is starting to have a little bounce. Saturday he took me on a long, long walk before chemo, was really into food, and was generally being naughty. 80% Leo.
Of course, the big time prednisone had it's downside, as well. L's been doing a lot of laundry this week - apparently, the boy was having a bit of a time holding it for more than a few hours. He seems to have gotten over that, but he's got to go a little more often. Aside from that, however, he's bouncing back.
